We take away all of the heavy lifting, while keeping you informed of the status of your project. Here are the basic steps of how we plan and execute a solar project on a home.
1- Qualifying and Scheduling
It all starts with a phone call. When a homeowner chooses to investigate solar, we must first determine whether they are a good candidate for solar. For a variety of reasons, many homes are not a good fit for solar and we get this figured out first so those who do not spend valuable time on something that will not be of value to them. After a brief phone call to establish qualification, then we can move on to generating your solar design.
2- Custom Solar Design
Once qualified, your home can now receive its virtual solar system. An energy specialist will take the size and positioning of your roof along with your energy usage to build a digital solar array. Using this we can accurately estimate how much energy it will produce and how much it will cost. Thus giving you a clear picture of what value solar would bring to your home.
3-Solar Consultation
With your custom solar design, an energy specialist will go over it with you. They will answer any questions you may have and take into account any changes you wish to make to the design, maybe you want more panels to further decrease your carbon footprint or maybe you want less panels to make the system more affordable, you can make those changes at this time. 4-Site Survey
Once the proposed design has been agreed upon. A solar technician will come to your home in person to perform a site survey. While we use the very best resources available to design your system virtually, there’s no replacing the eyes of an expert on site. They will ensure what the energy specialist saw on their satellite imaging matches what we see in person. They will communicate with you any changes to the design that need to be made as a result of the site survey.
5- Project Manager Intro
Your project is now passed off to your project manager. They will be have the expertise to execute your project and quickly handle any hiccups that come up along the way. They will introduce themselves and answer all of your questions.
6-BTS Permits, net meter application prep
Now’s your chance to sit back and relax while the project manager takes care of everything. At this point they will apply for the necessary permits in order to carry out the project along with applying for net metering with your power utility company. Your project manager will reach out periodically to give you updates and is always there if you have any questions about the project.
7-Scheduling and parts ordered
With permits secured and the design finalized, your installation is ready to be scheduled. Your project manager will work with you to find the most convenient day for our crew to come and install your solar equipment. Depending on the size of your project, it may take more than one day however the majority of our projects take less than one work day. It is at this point that your panels and other equipment will be ordered to ensure it will arrive on time.
8-Installation
Few things bring us more excitement than install day. At a scheduled time, our crew will arrive and promptly get to work. We will do a walkthrough of the project with you and will let you know of any issues that come up. You are encouraged to ask questions whenever you like. You may watch the crew work or carry on with your day, it’s up to you!
10-Net Meter Swap
Unfortunately, there are still a few more things that need to happen before you can start raking in savings. Your power utility much swap your electric meter with one that is compatible with net metering so you can get credited for the excess power you send back into the grid. We are at the behest of the power company during this process, we will keep you informed and work to get this process done as soon as possible.
11-Inspections
The final step of your project is the final inspection. This will ensure that your system can function properly and safely for decades to come. Once your system gets the stamp of approval, it can be turned on and start generating power for your home.
